Overview
Having clerked for a U.S. District Court judge, externed with a federal magistrate and with thirty years of experience as a practicing attorney in New Orleans with small, medium and large law firms, Jack’s knowledge of dynamics in the practice of law is extensive. He has advocated on behalf of clients before state and federal courts and various administrative and government bodies. As a litigator, Jack handled a myriad of cases, including admiralty and maritime matters such as Jones Act claims, collisions/allisions, salvage/towage disputes and cases involving property damage disputes, all of which underscore the importance of specific contract provisions and insurance coverage. Jack also has spent many years providing counsel on risk, coordinating investigations following catastrophic events and analyzing product liability and other causes of accidents.
Experienced with offshore personal injury and property damage cases, transportation cases involving commercial trucking and other vehicles, industrial accidents, petrochemical plant explosions, bodily injuries, and various premises liability cases, Jack has encountered not only many scenarios and legal issues, but also expert witnesses and practitioners with varying approaches. He has drafted and evaluated contracts ranging from the relationship of members of a small, limited liability company to risk allocation and indemnity provisions in contracts for the entertainment industry and highly sophisticated clients. In addition to his trial and appellate practice in Louisiana state and federal courts, Jack also has explored statutory regulations and argued their applicability before government administrative officers. Additionally, Jack has participated in countless mediations as an advocate for publicly traded corporations, medium sized companies, family businesses and individuals.
